School Information
Our School
The school opened in January 1969 and was then named Wistaston Berkeley County Primary School. It was not until September 1999 that it was given its current name The Berkeley Primary School.
The school is housed in a traditional style building with twelve permanent classrooms, two mobile classrooms and a central hall. One classroom, previously the quadrangle, is now designated as the ICT Resource Room.
The school has the benefit of landscaped grounds and enjoys extensive playing field facilities. It is situated on the edge of open countryside and adjoins a residential area of wholly private housing.
The school has capacity for teaching 420 pupils, organised into fourteen classes - normally two classes to each of the seven years.
The School Vision
At The Berkeley Primary School we will:
Offer a broad, well-balanced, integrated curriculum in which knowledge learned is applied effectively.
Actively support all staff in professional development, promote teamwork and offer opportunities to gain competence in new developments, recognising individual successes.
Provide an enriched environment that embraces new technology where expectations of teachers and learners are high, and recognises that not all children learn in the same way.
Manage our budget flexibly and efficiently to offer the best all round provision we can.
Value and include parents and actively inform them in areas of their child's education.
Develop links with schools in other countries / cultures.
